Salary: Grade 7 £34,237 - £36,581

Location: Civic Centre (Regular travel throughout the Borough required)

Are you ready to stand up for tenants’ rights and make a real impact on the quality of private rental housing in Wyre? We are recruiting to a new Tenancy Relations Officer role as part of our response to the Renters Rights Act.

About the Role

You will play a key role in protecting tenants and improving standards in the private rented sector by investigating alleged breaches of landlord and tenant legislation. This includes concerns such as unlawful eviction, harassment, discrimination and unfair rent practices.

You will manage your own caseload, undertake investigations, gather evidence and support enforcement action, whilst also engaging with tenants and landlords to resolve issues at an early stage. You will also work closely with colleagues across Housing and Legal Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints relating to breaches of landlord and tenant legislation
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases, based on risk and urgency
  • Gather evidence through interviews, site visits, inspections and document review
  • Prepare enforcement case files, including civil penalties and prosecution files
  • Provide clear advice to tenants, landlords and agents on their rights and responsibilities, intervening early to prevent unlawful eviction and reduce homelessness risk
  • Attend court or tribunal proceedings where required
  • Keep accurate records and contribute to service improvement

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience of investigating complaints and managing casework
  • Knowledge of housing or landlord and tenant legislation
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to gather and assess evidence and prepare case files
  • A commitment to supporting residents and delivering fair outcomes

If you thrive in a team that contributes to making a difference to those facing difficult situations then we want to hear from you.

In return we can offer you a salary up to £36,581, 24 days annual leave rising to 29 days subject to length of service (pro rata), great work life balance with flexible working arrangements, employer pension contribution, free onsite parking, discounted gym membership, access to occupational health and wellbeing services, extensive training and development opportunities and a supportive workplace culture that allows you to develop and grow.
