CASUAL CARETAKER

GRADE 4 £13.05 PER HOUR

We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated individual to provide a high quality caretaking service at the Council’s Civic Centre in Poulton le Fylde on a casual basis.

You will operate within our alternating shift arrangement, ensuring effective caretaking cover of the site and buildings, being responsible for opening and closing as well as general safety and security of the buildings and site at all times. This will include call-out response to emergencies, occasional later evening and additional weekend duty, and cover for leave when required, in co-operation with your colleagues.

The role involves some lifting and carrying and applicants should be physically able to carry out the required duties in this respect. You will be responsible for supervising a small, part-time, cleaning team and for undertaking cleaning duties when cleaners are not available.

Previous caretaking experience in a similar environment would be an advantage and applicants must have a basic working knowledge of buildings and plant maintenance with the ability to identify and rectify simple problems.  You will be well organised, having the ability to follow procedures and work unsupervised as well as being responsive to requests from colleagues and members of the public

You will present yourself in a friendly, polite and helpful manner at all times.

Due to the requirement to respond to emergency call-out, applicants must live within 20 minutes travelling time of Wyre Civic Centre.

An alternating shift arrangement operates:

Early shift:     06.30 to 14.30 (14.00 on Fridays)

Late shift:       13.30 to 21.30 (21.00 on Fridays)

Please note that due to this being a casual post the actual days of work will vary throughout the year. There will be work available only when it is required. There are no minimum hours of days for this post.
